My wife and and our Daughters have recently completed year long family cruising holiday sailing around the beautiful South Pacific in SV Tangaroa. See our blog at www.onelittleadventure.com We are now back on land and would like Tangaroa to have many more adventures. So she is for sale.Tangaroa is very capable spacious and fast yacht with good quality strong gear from bow to stern. She is strong and safe blue water cruising yacht which exudes strength and capability. She is super easy to sail short handed with all lines leading to the cockpit, feel very comfortable taking her out on my own.At present she is small ships British registered in on temporary import exemption in Whangarei, in the North island of New Zealand which is perfect launching point for another South Pacific adventure. If sailed well, Tangaroa is fast, we always passaged quicker than any yacht that we were sailing with, even beat most of the cruising cats too. She is real easy to handle, very stable, never really heels much with her beamy flatish bottom and moveable ballast. to 9kts was very normal and reef early with my children on board. She has permanent berths in cabins. Double in master cabin, double in guest cabin, bunks in 3rd cabin, spacious quarter berth. Forepeak is for storage, sail warps lines and dinghy locker, accessed from the bathroom. She is relatively flat bottomed centreboard yacht, with both rudder and board up she draws 0.9m and with all down she draws 2.7m. she is true shoal draft and will comfortably sit upright on the sand should you wish to beach her.She weighs 12.5t dry and empty, and between 14 and 16t fully loaded. She runs clean dry bilge.SpecificationsHull: Andre Mauric Meridien 1978 Marine Alloy 8mm below WL 6mm above.Engine: 70hp Perkins diesel in excellent condition. Please feel free to ask me questions but if you are genuinely interested please read in full the extensive details have written below. I'll start with her ground tackle, which is heavy! 75LB CQR with 50m of 12mm chain (new in 2015). This gear really allows you to sleep well at night, and find the windlass (New Motor in 2014) nice and powerful. Getting the hook up and down on my own is very easy. There is plenty of anchor rope but its bit awkward to move from chain to rope however it wasn't often anchored in more than 13m so very rarely needed the rope. There is really no maintenance needed on this element. The furler on the jib is nice solid unit with new forestay around 2014, this seems to get bit stiff if hasn't been used in few months but frees up if used regularly. There is really solid Yankee cut genoa which is huge and in great condition. then there is or smaller yankee cut jibs one of which is bit blown out the others are great. Has staysails one in great condition the other little tired. She has symmetric spinnaker in sock which is old but works well. huge carbon spinnaker pole and standard alloy jib pole. The main is very solid and fairly new with nice sized reefs which are super easy to use, can completely reef on my own with no problem. We put the stack pack on her with spectra lazyjacks last year and the system works great. All the standing rigging is super solid with quite stocky solid mast. The previous owner did an extensive refit in 2012, he is professional French rigger and keelboat racer, he rigged her very smart, she runs back stays and the side stays are dead abeam so the main can go out long way. Traveller is in front of the dodger so doesn't crowd the cockpit. She has nice spectra running back stays Her self tailing winches are super solid, biggest winches saw in the south pacific and all work really well, you can pretty much run any line to any winch. 12 clutches ether side of the companion way keep all lines neat and at hand. Her wheel runs spectra lines to the quadrant on new pulley blocks, smooth and really easy to steer, her rudder comes up and down easy. One thing that takes bit to get used to is the fact that she is shoal draft her steering differs hugely depending on the amount of board and rudder you have down, so you really need to think about that when close quarters manoeuvring. Centre board comes up and down on winch in the cockpit and works treat. Her auto pilot is amazingly good, holds good course in any weather. Nice powerful linear drive Hydroelectric running direct from the quad. She steers herself about 99% of the time. So nice to have reliable strong autopilot. This auto pilot is really the best. Her 500lt water tanks have transfer pump so you can use the water as ballast, great for passages. 500lt of Diesel gives you about 1000nm of motoring range around  1400rpm pushes clean bum at about 6.5kts in calm water. Her Engine is solid 70hp Perkins unit with no issues, starts every time and comes with all the spares you should need and more. Water-cooled mechanical gearbox changes very smooth, Flex coupling, tail shaft goes through recent (2012-14) dripless stern gland. Tuffnell cutlass bearing with little play but nothing excessive. On the end is an awesome Maxiprop furling blade prop which fully serviced in Feb 2016. This prop is awesome, quiet and smooth sailing with powerful and solid motoring. Tangaroa has anodes on the hull, on the prop, on the rudder and the normal engine anode. She doesn’t eat any of them any quicker than she should. replace the engine prop and rudder ones annually but the hull ones are the same as when we bought her, give them good clean and re bed them each anti foul. Her exhaust is stainless and fairly new, replaced the raw water impeller in 2015. The wind turbine and solar panels are in great working condition and control themselves nicely, the house batteries (700ah in 6v units) were about 5yrs old when we bought Tangaroa and worked well on our trip but are now needing replacing. The engine bat is fine. Most of the electrics are older but work well, the radar is really nice unit to use. If was doing the south pacific again would replace the radio for one with AIS incorporated. The Watermaker is old but works fine, was pickled when we got back to NZ and used at least weekly on our 10month journey, draws only 8amps produces about 180lt day. have replaced most of the perspecs on the hatches as they had crazed. Her hatches are awesome as they can open either forward or aft and don’t leak drop when fully closed. Heads is electric, and has never needed anything, works great. Her Dingy in an Achillies hypalon, the transom has detatched from the tubes and would cost $500 to fix however I’ve left it in case the new owner wants to buy new one instead of repairing this one. The outboard is nice 8hp Yamaha with only few hours use on it. Down below she feels really airy and spacious and the separate cabins make for some nice privacy (Great for family). Painting the deck would make her look lot nicer but the existing paint is fine. Her red topsides are blistered in spots but still present well considering she is alloy.I did get the stability curve for her from France. Looking at this she is still very positively buoyant 95deg. have had conversations about Tangaroa regarding her stability when sailing in conditions when knockdown is possible. Being centreboarder my understanding is if you were sailing in conditions where knock down was possible you would have the board up to give her nothing to trip on. She has been sailed all over the world and is very fast and stable blue water cruising yacht.
