I’ll tellyou what know about this boat, but please bid on the basis that it’s roughold boat and trailer that hasn’t been in the water for about ten years so can’tgive any information about how it’s going to perform beyond what is specifiedbelow.I boughtthis fibreglass boat about 15 years ago for the Caribbean hull. Previous owner said itwas 1970s model.
I thoughtthe 1967 60 HP four cylinder two stroke Evinrude which came with it was no good and intendedto ditch it as the previous owner hadn’t started or maintained it for years, but it surprised me by starting but blew way too much smoke.  strippedit down and found the cylinder bores were slightly scored and the piston ringsworn. honed the bores and rebuilt it with genuine Evinrude piston rings andother parts imported direct from the USA. Can’t remember now whether new ringswere original size or over size.Still blows some blue smoke, which suspect is because it’s very large twostroke built at time when nobody cared about emissions. Motor was repainted after rebuild and got non-original Evinrude decal, but paint now is only fair with rust in various places.
Took it outfor the first test run and found that the motor ran fine but didn’t engagegears reliably, so stripped the gear box down and replaced the defectiveparts. Gear boxand motor worked fine after that, apart from mystery thump I’ve never beenable to locate when powering up from low speed after leaving the channel fromthe ramp. It doesn’t happen any other time.I suspect it’s caused by the motor settling into the cradle under power, but Ican’t see what’s causing it.I used theboat occasionally on Westernport Bay for fishing for fewyears, but most days I’d be lucky to run the motor for more than about half anhour going from the ramp to the fishing spot and returning. There is no hourmeter on it, but I’d guess that it’s done about 12 to 15hours on the rebuilt motor. It’s beensitting in shed at Phillip Island for the past ten years or so as changedcircumstances prevented me using it. It hasn’tbeen in the water for about ten years but early this year ran it in tank severaltimes for between few minutes and quarter of an hour and it ran fine.  I pulledthe impeller out at that time and it looks fine and pumps water okay. Theimpeller was new when rebuilt the motor. The thermostat has been removed as Idon’t think it pumps enough water with it installed, but the thermostat cancome with it if you want it. The floorseems solid. Don't know if it's the original floor or replacement. Transom sounds solid when tapped with hammer apart from soft spoton left side near top of splash well and on right side about midway betweenmotor and outside edge of hull and about half way up around bolt through the transom.
There issome damage to the foredeck as shown in the photos. Various nicks and scratches on hull and motor.Windscreen is hazy with some cracks with holes drilled to stop cracks spreading.
See photosfor further description. Please note that the boat looks better in the photosthan in real life.  Trailer isold and rough, but towed okay from Phillip Island early this year. Ireplaced wheel bearings in trailer before towing it back to Melbourne. Needs some new rubber rollers androller frames to replace bent ones keel sits on. Bit of fun there in removing rusted bolts.Trailer has rubber mats on themudguards and treated pine walking boards under the hull to assist with launching andretrieval. It’s not drive on.7 pin round plug.
Gauges arerusty and apart from compass don’t know if any of them work. Voltmetercertainly doesn’t.Needs newbattery. Can be started with pull cord. rarely had success starting it coldwith pull cord, but it can work when motor is hot.Comes withtwo fuel tanks, ladder and paddles.Boat andtrailer registration due 23 December, but I’ll pay them if the boat sells. No reserveauction as it’s been clogging up my front yard because didn’t list it forsale early this year as intended and need space cleared to finishlandscaping.Ring me on0435 825 801 if you want to inspect it. Boat is in Eltham (Melbourne), Victoria.
